Man's mad race is to make miracles & it's governing passion is to explore and exploit to the extreme. Sinister sways and swings of materialistic mores whose telling traits are glitter & glamour, speed & success. This is today's life & it's modern ways. Hence, it's disastrous derivatives stare us at the face-an environment degraded beyond redemption, an ecosystem disturbed beyond repair & recognition. The matter has drifted & degenerated for decades. The environment is now a pal of gloom. A gargantuan gospel of despair is marring the horizon. Denuded hills, disturbed flora & fauna & perceptible fall in underground water level are all portents of this evident gloom.

The air, water & soil are slowly but surely losing their life sustaining capabilities. The rising number of vehicles plying on the roads, rapid industrialisation, unplanned urbanisation, hurried development programmes & an alarming rate of deforestation-all have conspired to make the scenario more morbid. Life taking water borne epidemics, killing air borne diseases, alarming increase in global warming, depletion of ozone layer to a dangerous level, decreased productivity owing to loss in soil fertility, vagaries of climatic changes, fearful frequencies of natural disasters have driven the gloom to deeper depths.

Hence, surge in concern about environmental quality is uniquely widespread & impassioned. The writings on the walls are crystal clear. Environment-our old pal is dying. The very existence of life is in jeopardy. the warning signals are singing all around. Hence, constructive consciousness & conscientious corrective measures are the crying need of the hour. We are on the brink of a perilous survival. The apocalypse is near.
